A guide to hate crime: information and support
A new booklet has been put together as part of a national campaign to raise awareness about hate crime and reporting amongst East and South East Asian communities. As part of the campaign, the Chinese Community Wellbeing Society (CCWS) has been selected to be the South-West representative for promoting hate crime awareness.
The booklet is available in English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. It contains information about what a hate crime is, the impact of hate crime, and how to make a report or get support.

The project is led by the Chinese Welfare Trust, Newham Chinese Association and Protection Approaches and is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
On Your Side
On Your Side is a new, UK-wide support and reporting service for anyone in the UK who identifies as East and Southeast Asian who has experienced racism or any forms of hate.
If you encounter racism or hate directed at you or somebody else who is, or is assumed to be, East and Southeast Asian, On Your Side will listen, offer support and, if you want to, tell others what has happened.
On Your Side includes a 24/7 freephone helpline and a website where you can find support and make a report.

Chinese Lantern Project
If you need more general support, the Chinese Lantern Project offers a free telephone helpline service to the local Chinese community. Telephone staff can answer questions on a wide range of issues such as employment and housing. They can also signpost you to other organisations.
You can call the helpline on 0808 802 0012, Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 4:00pm (except bank holidays). Calls are free from all UK landlines and UK mobile networks.
