Summary

Since 1 August 2016, the Accessible Information Standard (AIS) has been in place. The AIS aims to make sure that disabled people get information in a way that they can access and understand. Healthwatch has been working with partner agencies to see whether the roll-out of the Standard has impacted on people in South Gloucestershire.  The main findings of the work include:

  • Approximately three quarters of the people Healthwatch spoke to were not aware of the standard
  • There are good practice examples across the patch including the programme of work undertaken by the Avon and Wiltshire Partnership to raise awareness and the work completed by Hivewatch and Healthwatch looking at access to services for people living with a learning disability.
