Complete our NHS dental survey

NHS dental care continues to be one of the main concerns we hear about from the public. Issues include not being able to get an NHS dental appointment, not being able to find a dentist taking on NHS patients, and not being able to afford private dental care.

Healthwatch South Gloucestershire, Healthwatch Bristol and Healthwatch North Somerset are working together to understand your experiences of NHS dentistry, and find out whether or not you have been able to access NHS care.

Your answers are recorded anonymously so you won't be identifiable, but responses will be included in a public report. Our goal is to highlight to local healthcare leaders where improvements are most needed, and make recommendations for better care.

This survey will take about 10 minutes to complete. Some questions leave room for comments so you can tell us more about your answer. Please complete this survey by midday on Wednesday 15th January 2025.

If you are interested in taking part in a on-to-one conversation with the Healthwatch team concerning your experience, please leave your contact details at the end of the survey.

Research carried out by Healthwatch England shows people continue to struggle to access NHS dental appointments, despite the previous government’s efforts to improve access by introducing a new incentive payment for dentists.

A third, 33%, of people polled said they had to wait longer for their NHS dental treatment than they wanted. One in six, 16%, said they hadn't been able to find an NHS dentist who would treat them, with 27% of those having to seek private care in the last two years.
