About this event
We'll be at the South Gloucestershire Over 50s Forum event with lots of other organisations, so come by and say hello! We can offer you information and signposting about local health and social care services, answer questions, and listen to any healthcare feedback you'd like to share with us.
Ben Stokes, Deputy Leader of South Gloucestershire Council, will also be speaking at the event.
Anyone over 50 is welcome!
Our South Gloucestershire Aread Lead, Maisy Griffiths, attended this event and has provided a helpful summary below:
"Healthwatch South Gloucestershire joined a whole host of organisations at Lyde Green Community Centre on Wednesday 16th March at an event organised by South Gloucestershire Over 50s Forum.
Despite the grim rain and wind, we were delighted to meet many people aged 50 and over who ventured out to find out more about the services on offer. We heard about some good and bad experiences of health and social care services in the local area, and joyfully handed out our hot-off-the-press ‘share your views’ leaflet.
We also heard a presentation from Councillor Ben Stokes, who talked about how the Council is using assistive technology to support people to retain the lifestyle that is important to them in their own homes. You can find out more about the assistive technology offer here. If you think this is something that would help you or a family member, you can contact the Customer Contact Centre on 01454 868007 to find out more about getting a Care Act Assessment.
We were delighted to join Avon and Somerset Police, Avon and Somerset Fire and Rescue, Green Community Travel, Four Towns and Vale Link Community Transport, Kingswood Community Transport, Community Learning, South Gloucestershire Dementia Action Alliance, Well Aware, and South Gloucestershire Libraries at the community event - and we hope to see you all very soon!"
