The infopool is a new website offering simple, clear information about prostate cancer. It will help you understand the different tests and treatments available, and includes information on clinical trials you may be suitable for.

Created by Prostate Cancer Research, the infopool has been designed to help people learn from others who have been through prostate cancer and treatment. You can read their stories and watch videos about being on treatment and living with side effects.

The information on the infopool is written in plain English. It's based on the latest evidence and is reviewed every year. Topics testing and diagnosis, treatment comparison, and living with side effects.

How do I know if I am at risk of prostate cancer?

  1. Age. The risk of getting prostate cancer increases as you get older. Most cases are diagnosed in men over 50.

  2. Lifestyle factors. There is some evidence that obesity and diet have an effect on your risk of getting prostate cancer.
  3. Ethnicity. Black men over the age of 45 have an increased risk of getting prostate cancer. one in four Black men are diagnosed with prostate cancer compared with one in eight White men. 

  4. Family history. You are more likely to get prostate cancer if:
    • Your father or brother has had it. Especially if they were under 60
    • You have a close relative with breast cancer.
