COVID 19 - Beware of Scams

Avon and Somerset Police have advised the public to be aware of the scams that are surrounding the COVID 19 crisis

Avon and Somerset Police have asked people to be aware of a new email scam advising you are entitled to a tax refund of £128.34. 

The email states this is a precautionary measure in co-operation with National Insurance and National Health Services. It is NOT. It goes on to suggest the funds can be used to help protect yourself against COVID 19 and to access funds by clicking on the blue hyperlink. Do NOT do this. 

North Wales Police have advised it has already cost the public more than £800,000 in a month and to contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040

Spring top up Covid-19 vaccination for people at highest risk from virus

Eligible people are being invited by the NHS to have a top-up Covid-19 vaccination this spring. In line with expert advice, the NHS is offering Covid-19 vaccinations to people who are at increased risk of serious illness from the virus – including those aged 75 and over (by 30 June 2024), residents of care homes for older adults, and those aged 6 months and over with a weakened immune system.

Flu and COVID autumn vaccine programme brought forward

NHS England has announced that it is bringing forward the roll out of this year’s autumn/winter flu and COVID-19 vaccination programme, with vaccinations now set to start on 11th September 2023. Adult care home residents and those most at risk will be the first groups to be offered the vaccines.
